  • LAIQON - EU AI ETF: The goal is to outperform with a tracking error of 2–5% per year

Hamburg. On August 12, 2026, a new chapter in the history of actively managed ETFs begins: With the launch of the LAIQON - EU AI ETF, the LAIQON Group’s proven artificial intelligence (AI) will be used to make better investment decisions. The goal: to achieve risk-adjusted outperformance relative to European stock markets through the alpha potential of AI-driven portfolio management. In collaboration with Amundi, the LAIQON Group is setting a new standard, marking a significant step forward in innovation in the ETF market.

Amundi is the fund partner for the active ETF

The LAIQON Group is launching the ETF in partnership with Amundi, Europe’s largest asset manager , using Amundi’s ETF-as-a-Service platform. As part of this collaboration, the LAIQON Group contributes its expertise in AI-powered portfolio management, while Amundi manages the ETF on its white-label and active ETF platform and brings its extensive experience in ETF structuring to the table. “In collaboration with Amundi, we can offer institutional and retail investors a compelling combination: genuine active decision-making logic based on AI that has been proven over many years, at a low cost and with the simplicity of an ETF,” says Dipl.-Ing. Achim Plate, Chief Executive Officer of LAIQON AG.

“We are very pleased to support the LAIQON Group in expanding its range of investment solutions and to contribute the expertise of Amundi, the leading European ETF provider. “Thanks to our modular ‘ETF-as-a-Service’ platform, we were able to meet LAIQON’s specific requirements and thus foster their innovations in the rapidly evolving active ETF segment,” said Gilles Dauphiné, Head of Wealth & ETF Solutions at Amundi.

Widespread Distribution via Xetra, Platforms, and Trading Apps

With this approval from the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI), the LAIQON - EU AI ETF is set to launch for broad distribution in the coming weeks. The next-generation ETF will initially be listed on Germany’s leading trading venue, Xetra, as well as on gettex, Tradegate, and LS-Exchange. It will be available starting August 12 on the major German platforms and the largest trading apps.

LAIQON - EU AI ETF: The goal is to outperform with a tracking error of 2–5% per annum

Europe was deliberately chosen as the regional focus for the LAIQON - EU AI ETF, as an active alpha region. Europe is undergoing profound transformation in s such as energy, digitalization, and defense. At the same time, the market offers a diversified investment universe with attractive alpha potential, featuring many European large- and mid-cap stocks that are attractively valued by global standards. This market environment creates unique opportunities for data-driven management, which the AI approach aims to leverage effectively.

Portfolio reallocation is possible on a daily basis. This ensures that active management is consistently implemented. To capitalize on real alpha opportunities, the ETF deliberately targets a tracking error of 2% to 5%. The ETF portfolio comprises the 100 to 150 largest holdings of the MSCI Europe Screened benchmark index, thereby essentially replicating it.

“Our AI processes millions of data points in a matter of seconds and identifies patterns, better than any human could. This enables us to identify the most promising of the approximately 400 European shares and weight them more heavily accordingly,’ said Christian Sievers, Chief AI Officer at LAIQON AG and Managing Director of the wealth tech subsidiary LAIC Vermögensverwaltung GmbH.

Another key component of the product is the consistent integration of sustainability criteria, as the ETF meets high ESG standards (Article 8). This offers investors a sustainable investment “on top” of the already technologically differentiated strategy.

The AI-optimized active European ETF is just the first step: Looking ahead, the “Next Generation ETF” concept envisions a complete product family that will cover even more investment regions in the future.
